Crown Process
X Rays are taken
Dental x-rays are an essential tool in diagnosing and treating various dental conditions. They allow dentists to see beyond what is visible, providing valuable information about the health of your teeth and supporting structures.
Dental Injection
Your dentist will start off by drying the area of your mouth with air or cotton and then apply a topical anaesthetic (numbing gel) onto the gum prior to any work done to decrease the pain.
Preparation
Preparation of the supporting tooth. Once the treated area is numb, your Dentist will gently file away a part of your natural tooth to create room for restoration.
Tooth Impression
After the tooth preparation, the dentist will take tooth impressions in order to create a custom dental crown that fits perfectly.
Placement
Placement of the crown. Once the crown is created, it is finally cemented to your tooth.
Open Crown
When a margin is open, the crown will fail in only a few short years. It will fail because bacteria can creep under the crown and cause a cavity. These cavities move very fast as one cannot brush and remove the bacteria that exist under the crown.
Closed Crown
We ensure all of our crown margins are closed, as shown in the photo. We ensure this with a special fit checker and x-rays. When the margins are fully closed, a patient can predictably get 20 years of service from a crown.
